Black Man's Burden

by E. Terfa Ula-Lisa Esq

The black man has been in trouble because he is black and not ashamed of it. Most of the trouble is situational so we shall attempt to take a bird-eye view of the situation. Nigeria is distressed today because past leaders have been unpatriotic. Current leaders are not any better, each person tries to get as much as he/she can from the system. So many thoughtful Nigerians wish for a way out. A way is created when we are sent out or decide to check out and try to make a living elsewhere where we think things work. But the same people that messed our economy are suspicious of any right thinking Nigerian.

In the Diaspora, it becomes a placement in quiet servitude or an issue of rebellion if you have independent thought. You are guaranteed no job; you are harassed by the system and haunted to sell your soul, all because our elders had sold their souls to the devil. First, they sold the individuals physically as slaves, then they sold our collective future for a mess of pottage; now they sell our right to independent thought to the system.

One thing that would cause any Nigerian to be thoroughly investigated, his computer hacked, his house searched, INS sent after him and his future cut short in the Diaspora is to mention slavery, racial inequality or discrimination. If per chance the word ‘Reparation’ ever shows up, you become meat for the butchers who have perfected the art of electrocution with a smile. They would first frame you for being a spy so they may elicit patriotism from those who would otherwise come to your defense then they move in to steal, kill and destroy; just like their master.

Democracy means independence of thought and opinion for all. Democracy brings with it the power of the minority to at least cry out. WE ARE HURTING!!! Please stop this hypocrisy.

Africa has been stolen blind. After the trade in persons of African descent they sought to take over the continent for good. They shamelessly coined the term “Scramble and partition” for Africa in 1884. Then its people were raped, pillaged, massacred and quarantined. They called it colonization indirect rule or Apartheid. The gold stolen, the diamonds became owned by persons in far off capitals, most who came in as missionaries. So today, when the true missionaries from the revival fires blazing in Africa travel, they question our qualification to teach them about “their religion” as if Jesus was not a Jew but one of “them”. They quickly forget that the Jewish carpenter had prophesied that “The first shall be last”. Where is your accreditation, where did you become a PhD? Who sent you? What degree did the rough-talking fishermen have that they expounded truths that confounded their learned hearers?

The system of justice was subverted with international collaboration by persons who did not regard Africans as persons, persons who still do not regard Africans as persons. The African Chiefs were first fooled, then with knowledge, they actively connived to deprive their people of the most basic of human rights; the right to live. Today again, the so-called African leaders form cartels and sell off the souls of their people in graft and lopsided deals that they know further hamstring their societies. America became the guiding light to all freedom-loving people from all over the world; a place where people came to be free. America called out; give me your lame, your rejects, your persecuted: But if you are of African descent, you are not fully human therefore human rights do not yet apply to you. If you are too educated and of independent thought, you are dangerous to yourself, we must demean, neutralize you and use your brethren to show you that you all are not yet human.

We are not yet free until the least of the human race is free. A chain is as strong as its weakest link.

I await the arrest, framing and deportation of all the vociferous Africans since the society is not ready for them yet. Truth must be told. Truth is only a wound to those who do not want to hear it. The Christians do not have to be nice to you either; since they are only saved by grace through faith. God save you if you try to correct them. A lack of humility makes them steal your intellectual property to counter your arguments and in pride steal your thunder.

Thanks for a wonderful article. We have the same feeling here in America. In fact, I think this is the feeling throughout the Diaspora now…….most of the most vociferous here are imprisoned or denied access to the political system….

Well written and brutally truthful you go straight to the heart of the matter without being evasive to historical facts as some writers are.
